Chapter 9

Princes' Islands

They say the old island pilot had a rule: whoever reads his chart together will reach the quietest glade on Büyükada. Board the right ferry, take a bicycle, ride across the island, raise the signal at the pier and find shelter from the wind among the pines.

Inside the mechanism

The chapter's mechanism is made of modules. The Master sees and operates them, the Keeper holds the manual for each:

6 minutes and three sparks: three mistakes and the mechanism stalls, but you can replay at once with a new layout.

How to play

  1. One player creates a room and sends a friend the link or the four-character code.
  2. One becomes the Master and sees the mechanism. The other becomes the Keeper, holds the manual and can only explain it in words.
  3. Talk through the built-in voice chat or sit side by side. Roles swap after each chapter.

Historical note

The Princes' Islands are nine islands in the Sea of Marmara not far from Istanbul; people live mostly on the four largest. The biggest is Büyükada, which means “Big Island”. There are almost no cars on the islands: people walk and ride bicycles. They used to travel by horse-drawn carriage, and since 2020 electric vehicles have replaced them. Ferries run to the islands from the shores of Istanbul. Today people come here to stroll among old wooden mansions and pine forests, swim in the sea and cycle around the island.

FAQ

How many players?
Exactly two, each on their own phone or computer. No sign-up, no download.
Is it the same every time?
A chapter's manual never changes, so you can learn it. The mechanism is rebuilt every game, so the answers change.
Is the mechanism real?
The mechanism and its puzzles were invented for the game. The history note above is factual.
